Protect provides a mobile app for alerting designated individuals of a safety emergency (the “Protect App”). The Protect App and the Protect Websites, with their features and functionality, are copyrighted works belonging to Protect. Certain features of the Protect App or the Protect Websites may be subject to additional guidelines, terms, or rules, which will be posted on the Protect Websites in connection with such features.
What & Why
Protect collects and uses the following information to provide, improve, and protect the Protect Services:
Personal Information & Services . To access and use the Protect Services, you may be required to provide Protect with personal information, including your name, email address, phone number, payment information, physical address, date of birth, calendar and/or schedule information, account activity, global positioning system (“GPS”) coordinates, audio and/or video data, and/or other personally identifiable information (the “Personal Information”). You may choose to give Protect access to your contacts and/or provide Protect with contact information for designated individuals (each designated individual an “Emergency Contact”), including name, email address, phone number, physical address, and/or other personally identifiable information (the “Emergency Contact Information”).
Access to the Protect App is accessible only through the use of an individual user ID and password. To protect the confidentiality of your Personal Information and the Emergency Contact Information, you must keep your password confidential and not disclose it to any other person. Please advise Protect immediately if you believe that your password has been misused. In addition, always logout and close your browser when you finish your session. Please note that we will never ask you to disclose your password in an unsolicited phone call or email.
Protect protects your Personal Information and/or the Emergency Contact Information and will not share this information with non-designated third parties without your permission, except as outlined below. In the event that you activate an emergency mode, your Personal Information will be automatically sent to your Emergency Contacts. Your Emergency Contacts will receive a message and/or a link to a website that contains all of your Personal Information and/or the Emergency Contact Information. Your Emergency Contacts will be encouraged to share this information with other non-designated third parties, including emergency authorities, etc.
Your access and use of the Protect Services constitutes your permission to: (i) send your Personal Information to your Emergency Contacts if and when you are overdue from an event and/or you choose to share an event during creation and/or you activate an emergency mode; and (ii) send the Emergency Contact Information to your Emergency Contacts.
Protect will not share your Personal Information or the Emergency Contact Information with other non-designated third parties unless such disclosure is necessary (as determined in Protect’s sole discretion) to comply with a court order or other legal process or to protect the rights, property, and/or safety of Protect or any third party.
When you provide Emergency Contact Information, Protect may send a message to the corresponding Emergency Contact on your behalf using your Personal Information. The message may also contain the Emergency Contact Information of other Emergency Contacts. We may also send messages to these other Emergency Contacts on your behalf using your Personal Information. You should only designate individuals as an emergency contact that you know and with their permission to do so.
A cookie is a small amount of data which is sent to your browser from a website’s computers and is stored on your computer’s hard drive. Most browsers automatically accept cookies as the default setting. You can modify your browser to reject Protect’s cookies or to prompt you before accepting a cookie by editing your browser options. However, if a browser is set not to accept cookies or if a user rejects a cookie, some portions of the Protect Services may not function properly. For example, you may not be able to sign in and access certain features of the Protect Services.
Outside Services and Apps . You may choose to access outside services and apps, such as Facebook and other social networks. When you do, you may be able to import information from those other services and apps and share content from the Protect Services with those outside services and apps. Some of those third party services and apps may also provide Protect with information from your accounts which may enable Protect to enhance and personalize your use of the Protect Services. If you choose to use these outside services or apps on the Protect Services, the information you share with those outside services and apps will be covered by their privacy policies. You may opt in or out of accessing outside services and apps at any time. Protect is not responsible for the privacy policies or practices of outside services and apps.
Network and Information Security . Protect takes reasonable efforts to protect information we collect from you in connection with the Protect Services, but you agree that your submission of such information is at your sole risk, and you hereby release Protect from any and all liability to you for any loss or liability relating to such information in any way.
While Protect takes reasonable efforts to guard personal information we knowingly collect directly from you, no security system is impenetrable. In addition, Protect cannot guarantee that any Personal Information or Emergency Contact Information that you choose to provide or store on our systems or the systems of third party storage providers through the Protect Services are maintained at adequate levels of protection to meet specific needs or obligations you may have relating to that information.
